Today i have for you all a healthy, guilt free and easy snack made from puffed lotus seeds.Spicy , crunchy and super addictive – that’s ” Roasted Phool Makhana / Spicy Roasted Puffed lotus seeds ( foxnuts)“. Made from just a teaspoon of oil within 10 mins , they are way way better than popcorn  – both taste wise as well nutrient wise.

Few healthy snacks that you can make puffed rice chiwda , corn flakes chiwda , caramel makhana , poha chiwda etc

Spicy Masala Makhana Recipe with step by step photos

Take 2 cup of Phool Makhana / Lotus seeds.

  • In a pan add a heat a tsp of Ghee . Add makhana and roast it on medium low flame for 3-5 mins . Let it get crispy
  • When you pick up a makhana and break , it should be crisp & break easily . This is the indication that Makhana is well roasted .If it doesn’t, and is still little hard , you may have to roast them for few more mins.
  • Now add all the flavoring ingredients one by one like salt , haldi powder , red chilli powder , jeera powder , chart masala , aamchoor powder
  • Toss everything nicely such that makhana s are well coated with masala. If required add a tsp of ghee ( in case masala s are getting burnt )
  • That’s it…store in airtight container and enjoy 🤤

Few Points to note while making Masala Makhana :

  • Always roast makhana well till they are nicely crispy.
  • You can add or minus any of the flavoring ingredients mentioned . Like chaat masala / aamchoor powder / jeera powder etc is all optional . You can make it plain too adding just salt chilli powder or any desi spices that you prefer.
  • For some more chatpata taste , you can add peri peri masala too.
  • Addition of roasted peanuts or badam makes it more crunchy and healthy .
  • You can do this in oven / air fryer too.

Ingredients

    Hi Chitra ,In bangalore you get it in MK ahmad, Big bazar,total etc ? You can ask as makhana .. they will give.
