About Raw banana fry Recipe :

Raw banana fry belonging to the Konkani cuisine cooked with Indian spices makes a simple vegan and gluten-free side dish . Pair with dal, rice , curd rice or enjoy as such .. tastes so good .

To make shallow fried raw banana, we slice raw banana marinate it with spices and rice flour and lastly coat in spiced semolina and later fried on a tawa / pan. Kakrol fry is a must try vegan monsoon recipe.

I know i know… it does look little like fish 😂 and the method of preparation is also almost same .. do give a try I am sure you will love. .

Ingredients :

Raw Banana : Use fresh, green, unripe raw banana to make best fry .

Following the same recipe you can replace raw banana with potato , bread fruit etc .

Spices : Raw banana is marinated with a spicy paste, that includes everyday spices such as haldi , salt , red chilli powder , coriander powder, hing , ginger garlic paste .
Flour:

Rice Flour – Rice Flour is added to the paste too, which helps to get a crispy layer on the top of raw banana.

These spices combined to add a nice color to the Yam pieces, and also adds a super spicy taste to it.

Rava / Semolina – Rava or semolina is used for coating the spiced raw banana slices before frying them. It adds to further crispiness

Oil: Any type of cooking oil can be used in shallow frying the breadfruit slices.

Raw Banana Fry Recipe with step by step Photos :

Peel 2-3 raw banana skin and slice them about 1/4 inch thickness. Place them in water till ready t o use .

Maintain this thickness for raw banana while slicing , if you make the slices too thin , the texture wont come good . If you make too thick , they wont cook properly .

Now prepare a marination masala. In a plate , take salt to taste , 2-3 tsp red chilli powder , 1/2 tsp haldi , 1/4 tsp hing and 2 tsp dhania powder .

Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste , 2-3 tbsp rice flour and squeeze 1/2 lime .

Add very little water and make a thick paste. The paste should be like a thick chutney consistency

Drain raw banana from water n apply paste to each slice. Marinate for 30 mins.


For coating. In a small plate, mix 1 cup of fine rava, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder and 1/2 tsp salt . Mix and keep aside.

Coat each raw banana slice with rava.

Heat oil for frying in a pan. Arrange the rava coated raw banana slices on the pan. Drizzle 1-2 tablespoon oil , shallow fry or pan fry till golden & crisp. Cover and cook.

Cover n cook on medium flame. When one side is crisp , flip and let the other side too get crisp on low flame .

Ingredients
 

  • 3 nos Raw Banana
  • Oil to make tawa fry

To marinate

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric / Haldi
  • 2 -3 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste, optional ,
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder / Dhania powder
  • 1/4 tsp Hing /Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp Rice flour

For coating

  • 1 cup Fine rava / chiroti rava, or as required
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric / Haldi
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions
